DESCRIPTION
This amusing and sophisticated apartment is on a 2nd floor (no elevator!), located in a renewed historic building in the Santa Catarina district, one of the oldest neighbourhoods of Lisbon. Here you can surely experience the traditional Portuguese way of life.
The apartment has 50m2 and has been renovated to include the following:

one bedroom with a small individual sofa bed;

a living room (cable TV, CD and DVD/BLU-RAY player) with a sofa and a dining area; and IPOD/IPHONE dock
- an open small kitchen with washer/dryer machine, stove and microwave, fridge with freezer;

In wintertime it is heated with electric heaters.

LOCATION
Apartment 234 is located at Rua Poço dos Negros (Santa Catarina/ Bairro Alto).
It is at walking distance from S. Bento area (where the National Parliament - Palácio de S. Bento is held) where it is possible to find some antiques and exquisite shops as well as some restaurants.
It is also a short walking distance from Chiado and Bairro Alto. Bairro Alto is also known as design district because of all the design shops located in here. It is also easy to find fancy restaurants to dine after hours (usually most of the restaurants in this area close at 2 AM) as well as a the perfect place to have a drink overnight.
Historically this area is one of the most interesting to visit in Lisbon as Bairro Alto used to be a small village in the Middle Age and was "invaded" by the city during the 18th century. Curiously it is still possible to see and experience the way of living of a small village with its small shops in this, quietly by day, neighbourhood.
Chiado and S. Bento together with the Baixa area are the example of the Portuguese baroque architecture of the 18th century, also known as Pombalina.
This apartment is well located concerning public transports as it is in walking distance (about 10 minutes) to the subway station Baixa-Chiado as well it is served by various bus and taxi stops. The scennic route of Tram 28 is also passing next door.
Also in walking distance is possible to visit the Park Jardim da Estrela and its Basilica (a very important example of the late Baroque in Lisbon) as well as two other baroque churchs in Chiado; one of them founded by the Italian community living in Lisbon in the 18th century - Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Loreto and the other called Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Encarnação. In the same area, in about 20 minutes walking it is also possible to visit the Chiado's Museum of contemporary Art, near two major theatres (S. Carlos and S. Luis) as well as the Archeological Museum of Carmo, held at the convent with the same name.
The neighbourhood is also at walking distance from Bica where the funicular with the same name passes and Santa Catarina with its wonderful view point over the city and the river.
The nearest airport is Lisbon International Airport at 12 kilometres; the nearest railway station is International Station of Santa Apolónia at 1 kilometre.
