Apartment in Oporto 10 (managed by the owner)

This comfortable apartment is located at the south bank of the river Douro, just 100m from the nearest Porto cellar. Is has magnificent views over the river, and Oporto historic centre, which you can easily access by bus (5 minutes) or even walking (about 30 minutes).

Apartment 10 at Oporto is on the fifth floor of a building having elevator till the fourth floor.

The flat has 90m2 and has been renovated to include the following:

• a dining and living room with a double sofa-bed and a table for 5; it also has cable TV, Cd and DVD players;
• one kitchen equipped with gas stove and electric oven, microwave, washing machine and fridge with freezer;
• one sleeping room with double bed (140 cm);
• one sleeping room with 2 single beds (90 cm);
• a bathroom with shower.

In winter time is heated with electric heaters.

There is a parking place close to the building.

Our self catering apartment at Oporto is located at the Vila Nova de Gaia, at the south bank of Douro.

Vila Nova de Gaia already existed under the Roman Empire as "city of Cale" (name for the roman people settled at the Iberia peninsula). It developed most likely from a preexistent Celtic Castro, or Neolithic settlement. The origin of the name Cale (or Gale, since in Classical Latin there was not a clear distinction between the letters "g" and "c") is likely Celtic.

One of the highlights of Gaia is the world heritage Serra do Pilar with the monastery with the same name. From here you will have one of the nicest views of the region.

The view from the terrace over the river Douro and both banks gives you the privilege of seeing one of the most interesting Portuguese landscapes, including the Oporto's historic Center, classified by Unesco as World Heritage. This is only at 30 minutes walking distance or 5 minutes by bus. You can also see on the left river bank, the historic area of Vila Nova de Gaia and the Port Wine cellars that are spread over the slope. The first cellar is 100 meters from the apartment.

It will take less than 10 minutes to walk downhill until you get to the river bank (Gaia piers). This is a very nice recently renewed area with open air restaurants and plenty of space to walk, bicycle riding and why not a Douro River cruise?

You are also very close to all kinds of commerce, 50 m to supermarket, 100 m to the nearest bus station, 2 km to the train station, 15 km to the airport, 2 km from a golf resort, 5 km from a horse riding center and also 4 km from the nearest beaches.

In the back of the building there is a large area with trees and a very small construction density. In a very quiet area, with enough place to park the car.

The bed in livingroom is not very comfortable and the washing line is a bit to small.
Apart from the comments above, the appartment is perfect for families.

Está genial el apartamento, fuimos cuatro personas desde Madrid, en el puente de San José- 2009, el trato fue muy agradable por teléfono y en persona.
Está muy limpio y nuevo, sábanas, edredones, cuberterías, etc. Tiene de todo lo que se pueda necesitar y unas vistas increibles con mucha luz.
Lo recomendamos y si volvemos a Oporto lo haremos allí. Gracias.

Hemos viajado 5 personas, 3 niños y 2 adultos. El apartamento está perfectamente equipado en un lugar tranquilo, con buen acceso al centro de la ciudad. Nos ha encantado estar allí.

Estivemos em Setembro neste apartamento. A localização é excelente. Muito perto da beira Rio onde se pode chegar a pé e com espaço para estacionar o carro.
O interior é muito agradável, e o terraço com uma vista fantástica sobre o Douro permitiu tomar quase todos os dias o pequeno almoço com o sol da manhã.
Estadia que não esqueceremos.
