Apartment in Lisbon 122 - Baixa/Pena (managed by TravelingToLisbon)

Apartment 122 is in the 3rd floor (no elevator!) of a building located beside the main avenue Avenida da Liberdade and Pena, very close to Baixa and the busy square Marques de Pombal. It is the perfect place to discover the historic center, but also ideal for people coming with working purposes due to the proximity to the working centers and its public transports accesses.

The apartment is decorated with sophistication. The spacious areas and nice views invite to dream and relax.

Apartment 122 is in the heart of Lisbon, next door to all kinds of traditional commerce, fashionable shops and to numerous restaurants of all kinds. It is also a short distance from the other picturesque neighbourhoods of Castle (S. Jorge), Alfama, Chiado, and Bairro Alto. It is also walking distance to the subway and from there to the train stations that can take you to the beaches around Lisbon and to all the sightseeing in and outside the city.

There are two public parking garages at your disposal within a 10 minutes walk.

The apartment is a 150 m2 duplex and includes the following:

• one big living room with a single sofa bed, cable TV, DVD player and stereo;
• one dinning room;
• one kitchen with gas stove, electric oven, fridge with freezer, dish washer;
• one bedroom with a double bed (160cm wide) and a single sofa bed;
• a closed veranda where you can sit and relax;
• a bathroom with shower;
• a small room with a washing machine;
• Upstairs a double bedroom with a double bed (160cm wide)

In wintertime the apartment is heated with electric and gas heaters.

Wireless broadband access available for those who have their own laptop with Wi-Fi compatible equipment.

We will welcome you with a bottle of cold “vinho verde”.
You will also find in the apartment various CDs with typical Portuguese music to complete your cultural experience in Lisbon.

This apartment is set in the the city centre. There are several other apartments at Baixa.

After the great earthquake of 1755, when the centre of Lisbon was destroyed, a new one was constructed, made of grid pattern “geometrical” streets. This area, situated between Praça do Comércio, Rossio and Praça da Figueira is called Baixa. The apartment is next door to Baixa, now the heart of Lisbon’s historical centre, and also near Marques de Pombal the big round about from where the big business and comercial avenues leave.

Close by is Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, the location of many excellent fish restaurants as recommended by many city guides (see KLM Lisbon city guide). From this street leaves, every 15 minutes, the Elevador do Lavra, the oldest funicular in Lisbon (120 year old). It will bring you to the neighbourhood of Pena, where apartments 1, 2 and 55 are located, and to the green spots of Jardim do Torel and Park of Campo de Santana. It is also close to Avenida da Liberdade, place of elegant fashion shops, hairdressers and also to a big health club.

You are within a few minutes walk to the castle (S. Jorge), Bairro Alto (by foot or taking the funicular Elevador da Glória) and Alfama with all their historical sights, museums, monuments, bars and restaurants.

The area is served by 2 subway lines , numerous bus lines and tram lines that will help you explore the city and nearby tourist sights such as Sintra and Cascais or the beaches around Caparica and the Estoril coast

We have really enjoyed our stay here in Portugal.
The location is perfect, the apartment is lovely and the city is very fun! We haven’t missed anything, the apartment is really well equipped.
For future guests, there is a little terrace by the castle of São Jorge. A pretty view over the city and a very relaxing atmosphere for a drink or a coffee.
I really recommend it.
Actually the Indian restaurant just around the corner is really nice too.
We have been there 4/5 times.
We will absolutely stay in this apartment in the future times we visit Lisbon, it has been superb to live here for such a long time.
