Apartment in Lisbon 119 - Baixa (managed by TravelingToLisbon)

Apartment number 119 is located on the 1st floor (with elevator!) of an old historic building in the Baixa district. It is in the heart of the historical centre of Lisbon, next door to all kinds of traditional commerce, fashion shops and to numerous restaurants of all kinds. It is also a short walking distance from the other picturesque neighbourhoods of Castle (S. Jorge), Alfama, Chiado, and Bairro Alto.

The building is located on a pedestrian street full of fashionable shops and open-air restaurants.

It is also walking distance to the subway and train stations that can take you to the beaches around Lisbon,to Sintra and to all the sightseeing in and outside the city.

There are three public parking garages at your disposal within a 5 minutes walk.

The apartment is 128m2 and has been renovated to include the following:

• one bedroom with a double bed (160cm);
• one bedroom with a double bed;
• one living room with 2 sofas (one is a double sofa-bed), and dining area; it has satelite plasma TV, DVD and Cd player;
• a complete kitchen with washing machine, microwave, gas oven and stove, fridge with freezer, and everything you can need to have a comfortable stay;
• 2 bathroom, one with shower and another one with bathtub.

UMTS internet connection with USB plug can be provided upon request (10,00€/day).

We will welcome you with a bottle of cold “vinho verde”.
You will also find in the apartment various CDs with typical Portuguese music to complete your cultural experience in Lisbon.

After the big earthquake of 1755, when the centre of Lisbon was destroyed, a new centre was constructed, made of grid pattern “geometrical streets. This area, situated between Praça do Comércio, Rossio and Praça da Figueira is called Baixa. There are several other apartments at Baixa.

It is in Baixa, now the heart of Lisbon’s historical centre, where apartment number 119 is located.

In one Northern end of Baixa is Avenida da Liberdade, place of elegant fashion shops, hairdressers and also to a big health club. There you can catch one of the centenary funiculars Elevador do Lavra, to Pena and Elevador da Glória ("time Table") to Bairro Alto.

In the other direction (South), by the river Tejo (Tagus) you can find Praça do Comércio, the centre of the old Portuguese empire.

You are also within a few minutes walk to Chiado, the castle (S. Jorge), Bairro Alto and Alfama with all their historical sights, museums, monuments, bars and restaurants.

The area is served by 2 subway lines , numerous bus lines and tram lines that will help you explore the city and nearby tourist sights such as Sintra and Cascais or the beaches around Caparica and the Estoril coast.

The apartment 119 was everything we hoped.  the architectural detail including the high ceilings, doorways, balconies and floors were stunning.  the location is perfect, a short walk to everything (chaido, bario alto, alfama, castle, etc..).  Tons of restaraunts and cafes everywhere and as close as directly below the apartment.  There is not a late night (after 23.00) scene around the apartment but it is a 10 min walk to bairro alto so that is not bad and maybe good because it ensures a quiet evening in the apartment with the balcony doors open and cool coastal air coming in while having a few last glasses of wine!  this apartment was very comfortable for 2 couples and could work for an additional couple if they would stay in the living room.

Wir waren alle nicht zum ersten Mal in Lisboa, aber bisher hatten wir immer im Hotel übernachtet. Diese Wohnung bietet viele Vorteile: man fühlt sich hier fast wie ein "Lisboeta". Wir troffen uns hier im Wohnzimmer eine Woche lang zu einem Sprachkurs. Vormittag haben wir gelernet, nachmittags haben wir Lisboa erkundet und dabei auch viel Portugiesisch gesprochen. Diese Wohnung war perfekt!

Lisbon is a great city - we really enjoyed our short holiday here.
The apartment was great, as others said, very spacious and comfortable, we loved looking over the city from the balcony. It's also a great location - there are lots of transport opportunities, trains, tram and metro stations just around the corner.

Wir waren sehr beeindruckt vom netten Empfang bei der Ankunft in der Wohnung. Wir fühlten uns in der Wohnung sehr wohl. Sie war sehr sauber und komfortabel eingerichtet. Da wir in einer der Straßen um das Stadtzentrum wohnten, waren wir auch sehr überrascht von der Ruhe, die in der Nacht in dieser sonst sehr belebten Straße herrschte. Wir erhielten gute Tipps für die Besichtigung der Stadt und das Angebot jederzeit anrufen zu können, wenn wir etwas bräuchten.

I have travelled to Lisbon for many years since 1960 for holidays staying mainly in hotels. Now you have made Lisbon so much better with an apartment. I feel sad that it had taken so long to find a company like yours managing  the quality of apartment 119. First class all the way.
Our welcome and attention by Antonio was the best. You could add to your apartment description that a hair dryer is provided. That would save space in my case packing. Thank you for making my visit to Lisbon so wonderful, it's my favourite European city and the most enjoyable.

Un confort exceptionnel, on se sent comme à la maison, nous nous sommes beaucoup amusés à compter les fois où chacun d'entre nous se prenait les pieds en fermant les fenêtres... très drôle! Une curiosité portugaise peut-être...?

Nous avons profité à fond de cette ville pleine de lumière et de contrastes. Un coup de cœur pour l'Alfama et le tram 28, pour le parc des Nations, et le petit tour en téléphérique, les pastéis de Belém et sa tour majestueuse le monastère dos Jerónimos et le vinho verde! Ne ratez pas le "porco à alentejana" et le café si délicieux. Promenez-vous avec de bonnes chaussures! Très important! Et vivez cet appartement les fenêtres grandes ouvertes aux parfums et aux bruits de la rue. J'éspere que nous reviendrons un jour à Lisbonne.

This apartment is in a fantastic location, so much to see and very convenient to metro and other transport.
As others have said, a lovely place to stay, it is spacious, clean and welcoming. We would definitely recommend a day trip to Sintra, what an amazing place, also, the number 28 tram that goes around Lisbon and the elevators.
We purchased a ticket from the metro station which was a combined ticket for metro/bus/tram/elevators for 24 hours that costs about 4 euros, good value.
