Location
|
After the big earthquake of 1755, when the centre of Lisbon was destroyed, a new centre was constructed, made of grid pattern “geometrical streets. This area, situated between Praça do Comércio, Rossio and Praça da Figueira is called Baixa. There are several other apartments at Baixa. It is in Baixa, now the heart of Lisbon’s historical centre, where apartment number 93 is located. It's bright and filled with daylight, set on 5th floor of a completely renewed building at Rua dos Sapateiros.
In one Northern end of Baixa is Avenida da Liberdade, place of elegant fashion shops, hairdressers and also to a big health club. There you can catch one of the centenary funiculars Elevador do Lavra, to Pena and Elevador da Glória ("time Table") to Bairro Alto. In the other direction (South), by the river Tejo (Tagus) you can find Praça do Comércio, the centre of the old Portuguese empire. You are also within a few minutes walk to Chiado, the castle (S. Jorge), Bairro Alto and Alfama with all their historical sights, museums, monuments, bars and restaurants. The area is served by 2 subway lines , numerous bus lines and tram lines that will help you explore the city and nearby tourist sights such as Sintra and Cascais or the beaches around Caparica and the Estoril coast. Come and see for yourself! You can check the location of the neighbourhood and the street in the following link:

The apartment's location was fantastic. It was close to the city centre and very safe and apart from a barking dog (!) it was really quiet, especially for such a central location. The views from the windows were fabulous.
The apartment itself was spotless - really clean. However, there was a dreadful smell from the drains in the kitchen and bathroom. When I opened the dishwasher the smell was very strong. The smell was not there all the time however so it did not pose a huge problem. The kitchen equipment was great - we didn't use the washing machine or cooker but it all looked perfect. The little laundry/ironing area was heavenly!
Our welcome to Lisbon from Felipe was excellent! All aspects of payment of the bill and arrangements for coming and going were excellent too. The fact that we were able to communicate with you in perfect English was invaluable.
All in all, we really enjoyed our long weekend in Lisbon. The apartment was very very adequate for our needs - maybe a little more emphasis on comfort would be good.
Obrigado!

Did you find the apartment comfortable? [1 to 4] 4 Did you find the apartment functional? [1 to 4] 3 Did you find the apartment clean? [1 to 4] 4 Would you advise it to a friend? [1 to 4] 4 Were you satisfied with: - the way we handled your booking? [1 to 4] 4 - the information/description of the apartment? [1 to 4] 4 - the person who received you? [1 to 4] 4+ Comments/ suggestions: Isabel gave us a very warm welcome, with bread she baked for us and a sample of very beautiful traditional Portugese music. The place is very cute and pretty and simply lacks only of 3 things - towel holders in the bath - a carrier inside the shower for utensils - the shower head needs to be repaired, the hose almost comes off and it is leaking aside (we where very careful with it but it will fall apart soon)
The location of the apartment is really fantastic as well as the price!

The apartment was perfectly located. In the past few years we have used a number of holiday apartments. This one was the most tastefully decorated. The hostest was very nice, and was very friendly to our eight-year old son.
