Apartment in Lisbon 6 - Belém (managed by the owner)

Apartment number 6 is near Belém, the place from where the Portuguese overseas discoveries started in the 15 cen. It is a calm neighbourhood, perfect for exploring the city and also to rest.

The apartment is set in two floors, with a small terrace/garden, on the ground floor of a building from the 70s. Even if at the first glance the building looks grey an not very appealing, the decoration of the apartment and the abundant natural light  make it very comfortable.

If you are travelling by car you won't have any problems parking in the street, near the apartment.

It has 60 m2 and includes the following:

First floor (where is the entrance):

• one sitting/dinning room with a double sofa-bed, satellite TV, Hi-fi and various CDs including Portuguese music;
• a kitchen with everything you can possibly need to have a comfortable stay;
• a laundry room

Ground floor:

• one sleeping room with a double bed (140 cm wide) and the possibility to provide an extra single bed;
• one small room communicating with the stairs, the bathroom and the sleeping room (it is possible to put a single bed there if needed);
• a little interior terrace covered with glass, which is a perfect place to rest in the hammock;
• one bathroom with bathtub;
• The apartment is completely equipped and it has also air conditioning. A cradle can be provided upon request.

Apartments numbers 6 and 46 are located at Ajuda/Belém. There are several other apartments at Belém. It is the perfect place to conciliate sightseeing and exploring one of the Lisbon's typical neighbourhoods. The proximity of the river gives this area a special bright light. It is the ideal location for people travelling with children, wanting to walk around, discovering the history of the city, but also taking sometime to rest, be in contact with the nature, taking advantage of the proximity of the ocean or even taking the sightseeing train around the area.

This part of Lisbon is very calm. Here you will find maybe the best open-air farm market in Lisbon, running every morning, all kind of food shops and small neighbourhood restaurants.

It is at 15 minutes walking distance to the river Tejo, and the surrounded amazing area of Belém, with parks, open-air restaurants, the impressive Monastery of Jerónimos (link 2), the Belém tower, the Discoveries Monument (Padrão dos Descobrimentos) and also the modern cultural centre (Centro Cultural de Belém), with the Design Museum, and offering always the best exhibitions and concerts (push to have access to the cultural program).

It is also at walking distance from 2 fascinating parks: a tropical garden (Jardim do Ultramar) and a Botanic garden (Jardim Botânico da Ajuda).

Even if the apartment looks a little bit out of the city centre, don't forget that Lisbon is a small city with only 1 million habitants, that the area is served with more than 5 buses (number 28 to the city centre), and that taking one of the 2 tramways to the city centre is one unforgettable experience!

Very close to the apartment you can catch the train to the beaches around Cascais (Estação de Comboios de Belém) and also the boat to cross the river (Take the boat at Estação Fluvial de Belém and in 20 minutes you will be eating fresh fish or seafood or walking into the beach) or just to sightsee there.

The nearest airport is Lisbon International Airport at 10 kilometres and the nearest international railway station is International Station of Santa Apolónia at 5 kilometres.
