Apartment in Lisbon 73 - Chiado (managed by TravelingToLisbon)

This luxury apartment is set in the old part of the city center, in the same building as apartments 29 and 72. It’s bright and filled with daylight, set on the 5th floor (with elevator) of a recently refurbished building at the heart of the elegant neighbourhood of Chiado.

The apartment has a privileged situation and an impressive view from the veranda, over the castle, the river and the roofs of old Lisbon.

The apartment is 110 m2 and has been renovated to include the following:

• a bedroom with double bed (150 cm wide);
• a bedroom with 2 single beds;
• one living room with dining and sitting areas, one double sofa bed, satellite TV, DVD and stereo, and a veranda with amazing views;
• a complete kitchen with  microwave, washing machine and dish washer;
• 2 bathrooms one of them with access from the main sleeping room, with bath tub, and the other with access from the living room, with shower;

Wireless broadband access available for those who have their own laptop with Wi-Fi compatible equipment.

The building has an elevator.

There is a garage in another building not far away form the apartment that can be used by our guests.

We will welcome you with a bottle of cold “vinho verde”.
You will also find in the apartment various CDs of Portuguese music to complete your cultural experience.

Apartments 29, 72 and 73 are located at Rua Garrett, at Chiado. There are several other apartments at Chiado.

Chiado as re-emerged from the ashes of the big fire in 1988 after about 10 years. All the investment made in the renewing of this area, conciliating elegance of the past with the modern needs of comfort and design made this the most appreciated and expensive neighborhood of central Lisbon.

Chiado is considered the most beautiful area of historic Lisbon. It was a place of residence of the Portuguese royalty and of the political and cultural elites. Nearby are located the theatre S. Luis and the opera S. Carlos. A little further is Camões square (Praça de Camões), next to Bairro Alto, picturesque but raffish. Part of Lisbon's nightlife is concentrated in this quarter, where you can hear 'fados' being sung in some restaurants and cafés. Chiado and Bairro Alto are where locals and tourists meet, with elegant hotels, old cafés and the best international fashion shops. The flats are also a few minutes walking to a lot of trendy shops, and to the famous café Brasileira.

A 5 minutes walk takes you to the the funicular Bica and also to Rossio, in Baixa, the neighbourhood rebuilt after the earthquake of 1755. In the direction of the river, you can find Praça do Comércio, centre of the old Portuguese empire near the river Tejo (Tagus river).

It is close to shops, restaurants, cafes, banks, cash machines, public transports (inc subway station Baixa/Chiado station 50 meters away and electric trams) 24 hour taxi stands, etc. Also in the same square there are a pharmacy and a post office, as well as grocery shops within 5 minutes walking.

To go to Sintra or to Óbidos you must catch the train at Entre-Campos train station, which is just a short subway trip from Chiado.

The nearest airport is Lisbon International Airport at 12 kilometres; the nearest railway station is International Station of Santa Apolónia at 1 kilometre.

We spent a wonderful week in Lisboa.
The apartment was much, much better than being in a Hotel. Raul was very helpful when we arrived.
This apartment is so centrally located to everything that we could not have stayed any place better.
This was my third time in Lisboa and I still haven’t seen every thing I wanted to see.

Excellent modern apartment with everything provided. Very good central location with excellent access to  travel infrastructure making it very easy to get around Portugal and Lisbon. Only negative would be that it got a bit noisy at night but it wouldn't stop me from staying there again or highly recommending it.

The location was outstanding. The view into the river was an added bonus.
The view and sound of the always changing street scene was always interesting.
