Apartment in Lisbon 5 - Chiado/Bairro Alto (managed by the owner)

Apartment number 5 is located in the old city centre, at Chiado/Bairro Alto - place where a large part of the cultural, gastronomic and nightlife of Lisbon takes place.

It is located in a renovated building in old historic Lisbon, with abundant natural light trough its windows. It has two balconies and two terraces for you to enjoy, which have nice views over the city and the castle. All rooms have central heating.

The entire neighbourhood is more than 200 years old, and the building respects the 19th century style of architecture. The apartment has the original wood floors and doors and is decorated to respect the nature of the surroundings.

There are tree public car parks within 3 minutes walking distance.

It is a 135 m2 duplex apartment, second floor, that has been renovated to include the following:

First floor (90m2):

• one bedroom with double bed (140 cm);
• one bedroom with double bed (140 cm) with the possibility a single bed;
• one living room with dining (8 persons) and sitting areas (3 sofas), satellite TV and hi-fi and also access to one of the terraces;
• complete kitchen with a washing machine and everything else you could need;
• a bathroom with bathtub;

Second floor (45m2):

• one bedroom with a double bed (140 cm);
• one bathromm with shower;
• one sitting room with a double sofa bed (140 cm) and access to one terrace with a stunning view over the roofs and S. Jorge castle.

You will also find in the apartment various CDs with Portuguese music to complete your cultural experience in Lisbon.

Apartment number 5 is located at Travessa João de Deus, a street connecting Chiado and Bairro Alto. There are several other apartments at Bairro Alto.

The flat is located at the side of largo do Carmo at Chiado, near a lot of trendy shops, two minutes walking to café Brasileira, very close to several museums, operas (S. Carlos), theatres (S. Luis) and churches and also to all the restaurants and bars of Bairro Alto where the sentimental 'fados' are still sung in certain restaurants and cafés. It is also 5 minutes walking to Rossio, the centre of Baixa, rebuilt after the earthquake of 1775.

Nearby you have the underground (Baixa-Chiado), and 15 minutes walking you access the train station (Cais do Sodré) to Cascais and all the beaches around.

The nearest airport is Lisbon International Airport at 12 kilometres; the nearest railway station is International Station of Santa Apolónia at 1 kilometre.

Cet appartement est exactement ce que l'on cherchait, fonctionnel avec beaucoup de charme.
Idéalement situé pour les visites de la ville.
A quelques pas de l'ambiance du soir de Bairro Alto, mais juste éloigné ce qu'il faut pour dormir dans le calme et le silence.
Un étage pour les 5 enfants et un étage pour les 4 adultes, une superbe terrasse avec vue sur le château St-Jorge.
L'accueil de la propriétaire, qui a pris le temps de tout bien nous expliquer, était très sympa.
C'était juste super!

We booked the apartment for a hen do and even with 9 of us we felt we had space to all sit around together. The location is ideal; so close to Bairro Alto and all the great restaurants and bars, also so close to the tram and metro stations and shops. We couldn't have selected a better place. Although the apartment is fairly basic, it was clean and had everything we needed. The view from the top balcony of the Castelo was amazing, perfect to sit out with a glass of wine in the evenings!
The kitchen is probably the weakest point as it's not that big but with the great choice of restaurants at reasonable prices nearby we didn't find this to be a problem.
I would definitely book this apartment again when visiting Lisbon.

The staff of TravellingToLisbon were fantastic from the moment of enquiry through to meeting us at the apartment and helping us settle in. As a party of 8 with 4 adults, 2 children and 2 babies the apartment was great value for money, very clean and spacious and met our needs perfectly with location. We really enjoyed our time and having the staff assist us further with pointing out of great things to do and places to eat as well as helping us find the closet shop (late at night) to stock up on supplies for our babies we couldn't have asked for more. The pick up and drop off service was excellent and helped us greatly with 4 small children with car seats provided. We will use TravellingToLisbon again and we have recommended them to all our friends. Thank you!!!

We had a wonderful time in Lisboa. A beautiful city. Also your apartment number 005. The place where it is: close to a lot of highlights and restaurants. It was a pity that we could not talk to you what more time when we arrived. But that was not your fault: it was the day of the car-free day in the city. Difficult to reach the apartment. You sent us the friendliest taxi-driver we ever met: Helder and his brother. We never forget him!!!!!!!

The location is wonderful in the Bairro Alto- area. There was no traffic-noise.
Lots of nice shops and restaurants in the neighbourhood.

A great space 6 of us had a marvelous stay; we know the city well, in fact looking to buy in this area. A kettle would have been useful also a wall attachment for showers. Would recommend apartment despite these minor details.
