The apartment on the 2nd floor of an old historic building in the Baixa district.

Located nearby are many small shops and restaurants, and is short walking distance from the other picturesque Lisbon neighbourhoods of Castle, Alfama, Chiado, and Bairro Alto.

It is also a walking distance to the subway and train stations that can take you to the beaches around Cascais.

There are two public parking garages at your disposal within a 2 minutes walk.

The apartment is 35m2 and has been renovated to include the following:

• one bedroom with double bed (140cm);
• one living room with a sofa bed (2 persons), satellite TV and stereo;
• complete kitchen with fridge with frozen compartment, microwave and electric oven and stove;
• a bathroom with a shower, where is also the washing machine.

Internet connection with USB plug available.

In wintertime it is heated with electric heaters.

After the great earthquake of 1755, when the centre of Lisbon was destroyed, a new centre was constructed, made of grid pattern “geometrical” streets. This area, situated between Praça do Comércio, Rossio and Praça da Figueira is called Baixa.

It is in Baixa, now the heart of Lisbon’s historical centre, where apartment number 3 is located. There are several other apartments at Baixa.

The address is Beco dos Surradores. It is located at the bottom of the S. Jorge Castle (S. Jorge) district, in Baixa, at the back of Praça da Figueira, and in the area of Rua da Madalena and Poço do Borratem. The street leads to Lg. do Trigueirinho, and later to Largo da Rosa and Rua Costa do Castelo.

It is located on a pedestrian street built over cobblestone stairs, one of the main characteristics of Lisbon’s historic districts.

You are within a few minutes walk to the castle, Bairro Alto and Alfama with all their historical sights, monuments, bars and restaurants.

The area is served by 2 subway lines, numerous bus lines, and tram lines that will help you explore the city and nearby tourist sights such as Sintra and Cascais or the beaches around Caparica and the Estoril coast.

From the 2nd until the 10th of May 2006 we stayed in apartment 3 in Lisbon and we had a great time there: we had a lot of bicas and galões in the center, saw Sporting Lisboa win the vice-championship in the Portuguese football league and went on daytrips to Sintra and Estoril. We enjoyed the apartment a lot.

We had a lot of sightseing in the city, a lot of "bicas" and "galões", saw Sporting Lissabon winning the vice-championship in the stadium Alvalade, had a nice sunny beach-day in Cascais.
