Apartment in Lisbon 35 - Bairro Alto (managed by TravelingToLisbon)

This special flat for short-term rentals is on a 3rd floor (no elevator!), located in a renewed building in the Bairro Alto (BA) district, one of the oldest neighborhoods of Lisbon. The apartment is located in a quiet street in the heart of this neighborhood allowing you to experience the traditional Portuguese way of life.

It's also very close to the energy and fun of Bairro Alto where you will find restaurants of all price levels, hip bars with music from fado to electronica, shops, and even old fashioned grocery stores.

The apartment is 69m2 and has been remodelled and renovated to include the following:

• one bedroom with a double bed (140 cm);
• one bedroom with a single bed (80cm *180 cm);
• a room with a single bed (80cm);
• a living room (TV, CD and DVD) with a sofa and a dining table;
• a kitchen with washing machine, stove and gas oven, microwave, fridge with freezer;
• a bathroom with a bathtub.

Remark: please note that there is no door separating the 2 bedrooms.

There is cable internet connection available.

In wintertime it is heated with electric heaters.

We will welcome you with a bottle of cold “vinho verde”.
You will also find in the apartment various CDs with typical Portuguese music to complete your cultural experience in Lisbon.

Holiday-rental number 35 is at Bairro Alto (BA), place where we have several other apartments. 

BA dates back to the 16th century and is characterised by its small workshops and restaurants. By day, it is a quiet sleepy area (recently pedestrianised); by night the area becomes alive and is a popular place to dine and drink away the early hours. 

There are three public car parks within 3 minutes walking distance.

The apartment is a short walking distance from the other picturesque neighbourhoods of Baixa and Alfama, where you can find the historic Castle (S. Jorge). It is also walking distance to the subway and train stations that can take you to the beautiful beaches around Cascais.

This apartment is also very close to Bica and Chiado.

In Bica you can find the Bica Funicular that connects BA with Cais do Sodré (where you can catch the train that can take you to the beautiful beaches around Cascais).

Chiado is considered the most beautiful area of historic Lisbon. It was a place of residence of the Portuguese royalty and of the political and cultural elites. Nearby are located the theatre S. Luis and the opera  S. Carlos. A little further is Camões Square (Praça de Camões), next to Bairro Alto, picturesque but raffish. Part of Lisbon's nightlife is concentrated in this quarter, where you can hear 'fados' being sung in some restaurants and cafés. Chiado and Bairro Alto are where locals and tourists meet, with elegant hotels, old cafés and the best international fashion shops.

A 5 minute walk takes you to the Rossio, in Baixa, and to the Elevador da Gloria ("time table"), which takes you to Avenida da Liberdade. In the other direction, you can find Praça do Comércio, centre of the old Portuguese empire on the river Tagus (Rio Tejo), close to shops, restaurants, cafes, banks, cash machines, public transport (inc subway Baixa/Chiado station and electric trams) 24 hour taxi stands, etc.

The nearest airport is Lisbon International Airport at 12 kilometres; the nearest railway station is International Station of Santa Apolónia at 1 kilometre.

This apartment was the third one we rented from Traveling to Lisbon in a year's time. We come as often as we can from Paris for the sunshine, the great food, the beaches and the friendly people. 

The neighborhoods are so beautiful with the tiled Azulejos buildings. As always, the location was great, the apartment was very clean and well equipped with everything you could possible need to have a wonderful stay in Lisbon. It was perfect for my two children (who are athletic and don't mind the three flights of stairs). 

There are so many cute cafés, bars, restaurants, and shops in close proximity, it is impossible to run out of things to do. I would highly recommend this apartment if you are looking for a cool flat in the Bairro Alto (it’s not on the noisy street either - so pretty calm at night). Perfect for an authentic experience.

Für 2-3 Personen super. Bei 5 Personen könnte es mit den Betten schwierig werden, sprich unbequem.

Nachts ab und zu sehr laut, durch betrunkene Leute.

The location of this apartment is fantastic, right in the middle of the "little Lisboa's Montmartre! I particularly appreciated the little balcony with a view on the sea. We were not to far from the famous " 28 tramway". So don't hesitate any more, choose this place!
